As a writer, my mind is always busy. Therefore, I'm always working on something. Bernadette, beta reader and sometimes editor, says the voices are always talking to me, and she's right.
This page will give you an idea of stories to come. I have a goal of three submissions per year. These are the stories I'm working on for submission in 2010.
I know, after reading Nikolai's Wolf you guys are hot under the collar, can't wait for Shayla and Rory's story. They are such compelling characters that they almost took over Shannon and Nikolai's book. Well, I'm working on it, and have been for the last year or two. I started this book before Tameka's Smile, and was actually switching back and forth between the two. Then edits for Nikolai's Wolf started and my editor was making noises, indicating I may have to change some of the storyline. Things that would directly impact Claiming Shayla, so I set it aside and concentrated on TS.
I'm about 92 pages into it and have the whole thing plotted in my mind. It's taking longer because whereas I've already built the town of Refuge, now I have to create a whole new setting and support network of characters. I have to do a good job laying the foundation because there's one or two male characters being introduced that I already know you guys are going to want to hear more about. Can anyone say spinoff?
I hear you groaning, really I do. But hey, my sister's been waiting two years to find out, "What happened to Shayla?" LOL!
Note: Sorry folks, don't expect this one to be available until 2011 at the earliest. Anticipated completion date is summer 2010. Then there's the whole submission process. Loose Id has first option.
True Mates: Carol and Mark's story -- It's finished and CONTRACTED to Loose Id.
I can't tell you how many of you have asked for this one. Finally, you'll get your wish. It won't be a long one, but it is coming. I'm doing it as a prequel, meaning it picks up before True Mates. You get to meet Alex pre Kiesha, and his folks and a few others. Right now it's set as a Christmas story. That may change. I'll keep you informed. Should release in December of 2010.
As yes, I'm still working on Claiming Shayla. Haven't stopped. LOL!
Fantasy Island: Cyn's Dragon
This is book two of a new paranormal series that came to mind. They will all be short stories, less than 100 pages each. I anticipate being finished writing this second one by the end of March, and have it submitted to Red Rose Publishing by mid-April. The next book will be a vampire story. All of them are anticipated to be IR romances featuring different paranormal creatures and/or situations.
How many will there be? As many as my imagination can create. If you have suggestions of a particular storyline you'd like to see, email me at zenawynn@yahoo.com.
So far readers have suggested a werewolf, dragon, cat shifter, Scottish Laird, alien vampire, mermaid, selkie, and alien abduction.
This story came to me like most do, right when I'm in the middle of another storyline. Since I only like to work on one project at a time, I pushed it to the side. It wouldn't leave me alone. It wanted attention and it wanted it NOW. So, I got the first chapter wrote out and a bit of the plot, then went back the to story I was trying to finish.
Months later, when I was trying to decide on a project, it came back to tease and taunt my mind. The problem was, I couldn't find it. I searched high and low, in every notebook and computer we have. Nada. Nothing. It had disappeared. I could have started over from scratch, but I didn't want to. I might leave out something important if I did. Disheartened, I started writing something else.
A few weeks ago, I found it. I was overjoyed. I immediately dropped everything and started working on this. It's a vampire story (don't you love vamps?) and possibly the beginning of a four book series. Reyna has four friends that all have secrets just waiting to be revealed. But they'll have to wait until after I finish Shayla's story. She won't be put off much longer. LOL!
