A New Chapter: My Evolution As a Writer

Eighteen years ago, I embarked on a journey with you into the passionate world of erotic romance when I released my debut novel, True Mates. Your enthusiasm and support meant the world to me then, and it continues to fuel my creative spirit today. As artists, we're constantly growing and changing, and I wanted to share a little bit about how my writing, and even my reading tastes, have been evolving over the last few years.

You might notice a shift in my upcoming works, as my focus is naturally leaning more towards women's fiction with strong romantic elements. This means you'll still find the heartwarming and captivating love stories you've come to expect from me, but with a deeper dive into the characters' inner lives and the intricate plots that weave around them. While I'll certainly sprinkle in those spicy sex scenes that are essential to supporting the romance, they'll serve to enhance the emotional connection rather than being the primary focus.

This evolution in my writing mirrors a similar shift in my reading preferences. Lately, I've found myself drawn to slow-burn urban fantasy, contemporary and paranormal romance books that boast exceptional character building and plots brimming with emotional depth. I've always strived to craft compelling characters and intricate storylines, and I believe this refined focus in my own reading has only strengthened my ability to do so in my writing.

Ultimately, I'm finding myself less concerned with the sexual aspects of a relationship and more captivated by the emotional journey that two people share. The nuances of their feelings, their vulnerabilities, their triumphs—these are the elements that truly resonate with me now, and I'm incredibly excited to explore them more fully in the stories I bring to you.

As I write this, I have to laugh at myself. I used to complain about Linda Howard. How her "early" books were so much better than her later ones. I get it now. As writers, we need to allow ourselves room to evolve and grow. We hope our readers will stick with us and grant us the same grace. Regardless, writing is very much a matter of the heart, and I have to be true to myself and follow where my heart leads.
